Electrical Engineering Team Lead

About the role

Waabi is building generative AI for autonomous trucks and robotaxis. As the Electrical Engineering Team Lead you will own the bridge between custom electronics design and large‑scale production, ensuring hardware meets OEM safety and functional requirements. The position is based in Pittsburgh with a hybrid work model (four days onsite).

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a group of electrical engineers working on high‑performance embedded compute and robust power distribution.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Testability (DFT) across hardware iterations, moving prototypes toward zero‑defect mass production.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with contract manufacturers, running New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles, conducting line audits, and clearing production bottlenecks.
• Act as the technical liaison to OEM partners, translating supplier requirements into engineering specifications and ensuring clean integration into vehicle platforms.
• Ensure electrical systems comply with automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and AEC‑Q100, and maintain a roadmap for long‑term reliability.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 10+ years of hardware development experience, including leadership or mentorship of engineers.
• Deep experience with complex PCB design, high‑speed signaling, and thermal management of AV compute platforms.
• Strong grasp of power distribution and DC‑DC conversion for high‑performance compute and sensor loads.
• Fluency with automotive production processes (PPAP, APQP) and the ability to meet automotive‑grade reliability demands.
