Electrical Engineer II – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

ACCIONA Energía is looking for an Electrical Engineer II to support the design, engineering and commissioning of utility‑scale photovoltaic and wind facilities. The role focuses on low‑voltage and medium‑voltage electrical systems and will work across project development, procurement, construction and startup phases.

Key responsibilities

• Review and optimise electrical designs for utility‑scale wind and PV projects, concentrating on LV/MV collection systems, feeders, grounding, substations and balance‑of‑plant equipment.
• Perform and review electrical studies such as load flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash, protection coordination, cable ampacity, voltage drop and grounding analyses.
• Develop and maintain design criteria, specifications and technical requirements in line with NEC, IEEE, NESC, UL and utility standards.
• Evaluate and select major electrical equipment (MV switchgear, transformers, cables, reclosers, auxiliary transformers) and conduct technical bid evaluations and vendor submittal reviews.
• Provide technical support throughout engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and O&M, coordinating with contractors, OEMs and suppliers to resolve issues and track deliverables.
• Support construction, testing, commissioning, back‑feed, first energisation and facility start‑up, including on‑site inspections and engineering assistance.
• Ensure compliance with Safety‑in‑Design, QA/QC, non‑conformity and quality activities, adhering to all applicable standards and regulations.

Required profile
