Electrical & Computer Engineering Summer Internship (2027)

About the role

Alcon is looking for motivated Electrical & Computer Engineering interns to join its 2027 Summer Internship Program in Fort Worth, TX. Interns will work on real‑world projects that support Alcon’s mission to help people see brilliantly, gaining hands‑on experience in hardware, firmware, and robotics.

Key responsibilities

• Design or enhance custom laboratory and research equipment using CAD, 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and control systems.
• Develop embedded software and firmware for 32‑bit microcontrollers using C/C++, real‑time operating systems, and embedded Linux.
• Debug electronic and embedded systems with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies.
• Support manufacturing automation projects involving cobots, programming, and machine‑vision systems.
• Develop robotics applications for patient positioning, including simulation‑to‑real training and deployment.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an accredited university, with at least one semester remaining after the internship.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, computer engineering, embedded systems, robotics, or a related field.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
• Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities or projects.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (CPT for F‑1 students is acceptable).
• Available for a full‑time, 10–12‑week summer internship.
