Electric Power System Lead (RaptorX Aircraft)

About the role

Shield AI, a defense-tech company developing aircraft and autonomy software, is looking for an experienced engineer to support the design, development, integration and fielding of a next-generation autonomous aircraft system. The role balances technical rigor, rapid decision-making and hands-on engineering, in an accelerated aircraft development environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the aircraft power system vision from concept to production, covering power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality and control.
• Design, develop and integrate high-power systems suited to harsh environments such as high altitude and radiation.
• Design custom power electronics for high power and high voltage.
• Design an uninterruptible power system with a high-capacity battery.
• Run make vs. buy trade studies, select, test and integrate modules for the aircraft.
• Build a world-class power electronics lab.
• Verify system performance and reliability through rigorous testing, and debug electrical, environmental and manufacturing issues.
• Build and lead a team of engineers, drive a cross-functional team on the top-level architecture, and provide mentorship and design reviews.

Required profile

• Power system design experience on large aircraft, or an equivalent system such as rocket, satellite or submarine.
• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven track record of delivering power system and power electronic products to market.
• Strong technical fundamentals and analysis skills.
