EHS Specialist III – Environmental Health & Safety

About the role

The Performance Materials division of BASF seeks an EHS Specialist III to join the Malcom, IA site. You will ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations while supporting the division’s sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local environmental protection, hazardous waste and spill prevention regulations.
• Implement BASF internal standards such as Responsible Care® and enhance site EHS programs to retain the license to operate.
• Lead site security initiatives, identify risks and apply mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with the site manager and the broader BASF EHS community, reporting to the EHS Director for Performance Materials North America.
• Conduct risk assessments and address identified deficiencies across occupational safety, industrial hygiene and environmental management.

Required profile

• Strong communication skills to build relationships with employees, regulators and third‑party stakeholders.
• Proven experience in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental management and emergency response within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to act as a positive change agent and promote a safety‑first culture.
