About the role
We are looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our Austin headquarters for the summer of 2027. The intern will support the development and implementation of EHS programs across labs, manufacturing spaces, shipyards, and maritime testing sites.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in creating and updating EHS policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Conduct health and safety inspections and hazard/risk assessments in laboratories, manufacturing areas, shipyards, and field test environments.
- Support incident reporting, root‑cause analysis, and corrective‑action tracking.
- Maintain OSHA compliance documentation, safety data sheets, and chemical inventories.
- Help with environmental compliance for air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and fellow interns.
- Track and analyze EHS metrics and performance data.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure safe design and testing practices.
- Assist with regulatory reports, internal audits, emergency drills, and management‑system improvements.
Required profile
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program related to EHS, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or a similar field.
- Interest in manufacturing, robotics, maritime systems, or defense‑technology environments.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with hazardous‑materials management and environmental regulations.
- Experience with lab safety, manufacturing safety, field operations, or maritime safety practices.
- Experience using EHS reporting or compliance software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced startup setting.
