Education Workforce Specialist

About the role

The NOAA Living Marine Resources Cooperative Science Center at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore seeks an Education Workforce Specialist to lead student development initiatives across the Center. This twelve‑month, full‑time exempt position supports NOAA‑aligned training, research, and career readiness for undergraduate and graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee Individualized Student Development Plans, reviewing them annually or semi‑annually.
• Ensure students acquire NOAA mission‑related skills, present at professional meetings, and understand internship and research opportunities.
• Coordinate with the Data and Information Manager to align student activities with Center SMART objectives.
• Facilitate experiential research, professional development, and knowledge of NOAA funding and mission.

Required profile

• Experience in higher‑education program coordination or workforce development.
• Strong understanding of NOAA’s mission and marine science research environments.
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
