About the role

The State of Georgia’s Department of Community Health is seeking an Economic Support Specialist 1 to evaluate eligibility for Medicaid assistance, with a focus on Katie Beckett programs. This position plays a critical role in supporting Georgia’s residents by managing applications, budgets, and customer interactions.

Key responsibilities

• Accept applications and determine initial and ongoing eligibility for various classes of ABD Medicaid assistance, specializing in Katie Beckett Medicaid.
• Record and evaluate personal and financial data obtained from individuals.
• Manage a caseload of at least 50 cases per month while adhering to daily work schedules and attendance standards.
• Calculate budgets manually and using appropriate devices.
• Answer a high volume of incoming calls, providing professional and courteous customer service.
• Enter large volumes of data using standard office hardware and software.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least one year of customer‑contact experience, or completion of 60 college credit hours.
• Preferably 2‑3 years of knowledge and experience with current Georgia Family Medicaid policy and processing in GA Gateway.
• Ability to work non‑traditional schedules, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel and official business.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Basic math calculation ability.
• Novice understanding of Katie Beckett policies and procedures.
