Economic Research Summer Intern

About the role

Moody's is seeking a motivated Economic Research Summer Intern to join its Economics COE team in New York for a 10‑week, full‑time program. The intern will support global economic analysis projects, gaining hands‑on experience in research, data handling, and client‑focused deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Assist economists with economic modeling, written research, and quantitative analysis.
• Conduct literature reviews, synthesize findings, and support current research objectives.
• Participate in the full research lifecycle, including data collection, cleaning, and preliminary quantitative analysis.
• Help automate workflows and improve process efficiencies.
• Execute one‑off research assignments to address specific client needs and support timely publications.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics or a closely related quantitative field (e.g., finance, mathematics) with anticipated graduation between Dec 2027 and Jun 2029.
• Strong academic record and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Motivated, detail‑oriented, and able to learn quickly.

Required skills

• Foundational understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and statistics.
• Proficiency with statistical or econometric software such as EViews, STATA, or SAS.
• Programming experience in Python or R.
• Basic knowledge of artificial‑intelligence concepts and interest in responsible AI practices.
• Excellent written communication skills.
