About the role
The Town of Riverdale Park is looking for a proactive Economic Development Coordinator to strengthen the local small‑business ecosystem, support commercial growth, and translate economic‑development priorities into daily actions. Reporting to the Director of Development Services, the coordinator will serve as the primary liaison for businesses, property owners, entrepreneurs, and regional partners.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular visits and follow‑ups with existing, new, and relocating businesses to identify needs, concerns, and opportunities.
- Connect businesses with municipal, county, state, federal, nonprofit, workforce and small‑business assistance resources.
- Build and maintain relationships with owners, entrepreneurs, commercial property owners, brokers, landlords and development partners.
- Organize and facilitate business roundtables, trainings, resource sessions and networking events, handling outreach, scheduling, speakers, agendas, attendance tracking and evaluation.
- Draft newsletters, spotlights and resource announcements; maintain an outreach calendar.
- Maintain the town’s electronic business directory and track commercial properties, vacancies, openings, closures and referrals.
- Market and track grant and incentive opportunities, communicate with applicants, manage documentation and prepare outcome summaries.
- Support the Advisory Planning Committee by preparing agendas, meeting packets, documenting minutes and tracking action items.
- Represent the town at meetings and events, preparing briefing notes, reports, dashboards, maps and recommendations.
- Coordinate with other town departments when business needs intersect licensing, permitting, public safety, communications, infrastructure, grants or events.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, economic development, urban planning, communications, marketing, community development or a related field.
- One to three years of experience in economic development, business outreach, community engagement or a comparable municipal role.
- Strong organizational abilities, clear written and verbal communication, and meticulous record‑keeping.
- Ability to build trust, follow through on tasks and recognize when to elevate issues to senior staff.
