Donut Finisher (Overnight)

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Donut Finisher for its Bakery department in Maple Grove, Minnesota, working overnight shifts. The role keeps the bakery case stocked with fresh, finished donuts, bagels and danishes, from glazing and icing to garnishing and presentation. The starting hourly wage is $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service at the counter and elsewhere in the store, and answer the telephone promptly.
• Prepare the work area and equipment at the start of each shift.
• Take donuts and rolls out of the freezer, place danishes and cinnamon rolls in the proof box, and heat them in the oven before glazing or icing.
• Ice and garnish donuts for the case, review special orders and prepare them, and set up icings and the glazing area for the next day.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area, follow personal hygiene and dress standards, and adhere to store policies and guidelines.
• Work with customers at the counter and assist in other parts of the store as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related experience; training is provided.
• Able to follow written, verbal or diagrammatic instructions carefully, and to perform simple addition and subtraction and count and record accurately.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Physical ability to stand and walk frequently, use sharp knives and blades safely, and handle heat and burn hazards from ovens and baking equipment.

The work takes place in a busy bakery environment with daily noise and equipment, weekly exposure to cleaning chemicals, and regular work around ovens and glazing equipment. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
