Donor Relations Specialist

About the role

The Donor Relations Specialist is the primary point of contact for donors, responsible for nurturing relationships, supporting new donor acquisition, and ensuring high‑quality interactions that reflect the mission of It Is Written. This full‑time, onsite role works closely with the Development team and the Associate Director of Development.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing strategies to acquire new donors.
• Monitor giving patterns, identify engagement opportunities, and improve donor communications.
• Attend events to cultivate donor relationships and represent the organization.
• Work with the Raiser's Edge vendor to troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
• Respond promptly to donor inquiries via phone, email, text, and other channels.
• Maintain accurate donor records, ensuring confidentiality and privacy.
• Process donations, track gifts, and prepare acknowledgments and paperwork for Accounting.
• Support donor stewardship plans, recognition initiatives, and personalized communications.
• Collaborate with internal teams to keep departmental documents and processes up to date.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in donor relations, fundraising, or nonprofit development.
• Strong communication skills and a customer‑service mindset.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and record‑keeping abilities.
