District Health Director

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a District Health Director to lead public health initiatives across designated districts. Reporting to the State Commissioner, you will guide a team of professionals in protecting the health of Georgia’s residents and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and supervision for public health programs within the assigned district.
• Coordinate disease prevention, injury control, and emergency preparedness activities.
• Collaborate with local agencies, community partners, and healthcare providers to implement health policies.
• Monitor and evaluate health outcomes, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Represent the Department in public forums, presenting data and recommendations.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, health administration, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in public health leadership, preferably within a governmental setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of public health laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools used in health surveillance.
