Director, Programme Planning & Budget Division (Temporary)

About the role

The Director leads the Programme Planning and Budget Division (PPBD) within the United Nations system. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary‑General, Controller, the role supports the General Assembly and subsidiary bodies by providing strategic budgetary guidance and ensuring accurate resource forecasting.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage the PPBD programme, overseeing the development and implementation of policies, procedures and methodologies related to programme budgeting.
• Contribute to department‑wide strategies and policies through committee participation, policy document preparation and advisory support to senior officials.
• Provide strategic guidance on the triennial plan outline, results‑based management and harmonisation of results frameworks across all UN entities.
• Formulate and implement the Division’s substantive work programme, set priorities, allocate resources and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
• Oversee division activities, coordinate work across the Division, Department and other UN organisations, and ensure compliance with UN Financial Regulations and Rules.
