Director - Product Security

About the role

The Director of Product Security will lead the security strategy for a joint Software‑Defined Vehicle platform that will power millions of electric vehicles for Rivian, Volkswagen, Audi, Scout and others. Based in Palo Alto, you will embed security into the core of the vehicle firmware, cloud services, mobile apps and OTA update pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own a multi‑year product security roadmap across vehicle firmware, cloud backend, mobile applications and OTA processes.
• Partner with software, hardware and platform teams to conduct threat modeling, TARA and develop security requirements.
• Establish secure coding guidelines and integrate automated security tooling (SAST, DAST, fuzzing) into CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead testing efforts using software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL), hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) and test‑vehicle validation.
• Champion a security‑by‑design culture across a global engineering organization of 1,500+ engineers.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in product security for complex, safety‑critical systems.
• Deep understanding of automotive and connected‑vehicle security standards and regulations.
• Strong track record of building and scaling security teams in a high‑tech environment.
• Excellent communication skills to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
