Director, Operations and Customer Quality Program Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a senior leader to drive operational excellence and customer‑focused quality programs. The role combines strategic oversight of product quality, customer service, and cross‑functional collaboration to meet and exceed client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure product quality, responsiveness, and service meet customer expectations.
• Interface directly with key customers to resolve inquiries, product returns, and satisfaction issues.
• Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for continuous improvement of product and service quality.
• Build and strengthen the global Quality organization, managing budgets and employee performance.
• Define roles and responsibilities across manufacturing lines and customer support functions.
• Coordinate quality control inspections, testing, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions throughout the organization.
• Select, evaluate, and manage staff to ensure efficient operation of the function.

Required profile

• Broad understanding of systems, theories, and evolving business environments.
• Deep expertise in the assigned segment, with ability to differentiate from competitors.
• Proven leadership of multi‑level teams, developing and executing strategies to achieve business objectives.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, capable of directing innovative solutions to complex challenges.
• Ability to influence senior executives and negotiate outcomes with high latitude.
