Director of Trade Development

About the role

The Director of Trade Development will lead the Business Management team dedicated to Diageo, driving the Trade Development Ways of Working (WoW) across core competencies. This senior position shapes strategy, ensures execution, and acts as the market expert on customers, brands, and trends.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Trade Development WoW, ensuring adherence to business rules and the BBG Reliability Model.
• Lead and mentor direct reports, clearly defining roles, expectations, and deliverables.
• Coordinate timely delivery of materials and communications.
• Collaborate with key suppliers to embed consistent WoW practices.
• Work cross‑functionally with Sales, Revenue Management, Demand Planning, and Finance to meet business plans.
• Achieve BBG‑budgeted objectives and drive revenue growth.
• Recruit, train, and develop the trade team.
• Serve as the local commodity expert and support additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in sales, trade marketing, management, or trade development.
• Strong verbal and written communication, diplomacy, and customer‑service orientation.
• Proven ability to motivate, develop teams, and exercise sound judgment.
• High professionalism, business planning, and collaboration capabilities.
• Experience in fast‑paced, high‑volume environments.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with MS Office and presentation software.
