Director of Software Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Developer Workbench platform within the MSBX division. You will shape a unified, developer‑centric experience for more than 11,500 engineers worldwide, driving tool integration, AI‑augmented development, and rapid onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high‑performing engineering team responsible for end‑to‑end delivery of the Developer Workbench platform.
• Define the strategic vision and roadmap, transforming the workbench from a charge‑back mechanism into a cohesive product.
• Integrate and enable core tools (BuildersHub, DevFlow, TestFlow, DevInsights, Cloud DevEx) and cross‑cutting solutions such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Docker Desktop.
• Establish a governed tooling catalogue, manage version lifecycles, and retire redundant solutions.
• Partner with CTOs, product owners, and platform teams to align priorities and drive adoption across the organization.
• Design pre‑provisioned onboarding environments to make new hires productive within 30 minutes.
• Champion AI‑augmented development practices and demonstrate ROI through productivity metrics.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience building and scaling engineering teams in a large technology organization.
• Strong track record of delivering complex, platform‑level products to thousands of internal users.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with senior technology and business leaders.
• Deep understanding of developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and AI‑assisted coding.
