About the role
Radiant Industries is pioneering portable nuclear microreactors and seeks a seasoned leader to head its regulatory affairs function in Washington, DC. Reporting to the Chief Nuclear Officer, the Director will guide all licensing interactions with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to accelerate the development and commercialization of the Kaleidos microreactor.
Key responsibilities
- Provide licensing and regulatory leadership and strategic guidance to a high‑performing team.
- Craft a modern regulatory strategy grounded in sound engineering principles.
- Own end‑to‑end licensing execution, establishing principle‑based standards while promoting streamlined regulatory approaches.
- Facilitate collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies, including attending NRC visits and meetings.
- Ensure completeness, timeliness, and quality of all licensing and regulatory submissions.
- Integrate regulatory processes with technical teams to meet quality‑assurance and compliance standards.
Required profile
- Proven experience working with government agencies, preferably the NRC, on risk‑informed regulations.
- Track record of delivering regulatory solutions that prioritize safety and engineering rigor.
- Strong leadership ability with a player‑coach mindset to build and support a cohesive team.
- Commitment to advancing the first market‑ready microreactor and providing clean, reliable energy.
Required skills
- Knowledge of NRC licensing processes.
- Expertise in regulatory compliance for nuclear technologies.
- Understanding of risk‑informed regulation frameworks.
- Ability to produce high‑quality regulatory documentation.
- Experience coordinating cross‑functional engineering teams.
