Director of Reference Rates

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is seeking a Director of Reference Rates to lead the production and analysis of key money‑market reference rates. This senior position sits on the Domestic and International Markets (DIM) senior leadership team and shapes the strategy for reference‑rate operations that support U.S. monetary policy and financial stability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Reference Rates Directorate, overseeing the production of globally important rates such as SOFR and the Effective Fed Funds Rate.
• Deliver high‑quality, timely, policy‑relevant analysis of money‑market developments in collaboration with the Money Markets Directorate.
• Manage and develop a high‑performing team of managers, specialists, and analysts across two locations.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative workplace and drive talent‑management initiatives to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
• Align resources with the long‑term Markets Group strategic plan and work with DIM senior leadership to execute the group’s strategy.
• Oversee the Reference Rate Use Committee (RRUC) to ensure integrity, efficiency, and resiliency of U.S. dollar‑denominated reference rates.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in reference‑rate production, money‑market analysis, or related financial‑policy functions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of U.S. monetary‑policy framework and global financial markets.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.
