Director of Quality (Aviation Maintenance – Part 145)

About the role
The organization is expanding its completions and MRO capabilities and seeks a senior quality leader to own and evolve its FAA Part 145 Quality Management System. You will work on‑site in Indiana, partnering with the Chief Inspector and operational teams to ensure aircraft are released safely and compliantly.
Key responsibilities
- Own and continuously improve the Quality Management System across a FAA Part 145 maintenance environment.
- Serve as the senior accountable point for airworthiness and return‑to‑service decisions, overseeing inspection activities and final release expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the FAA and, where applicable, EASA, handling audits, findings, and ongoing regulatory engagement.
- Collaborate closely with operations to resolve quality issues at the source while protecting schedules.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high‑performing QA/QC/Inspection team with clear responsibilities and escalation paths.
- Engage directly with VIP and business‑aviation customers on quality matters, safety holds, findings, and release timing.
Required profile
- Significant senior‑level experience in maintenance quality within a FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
- Deep knowledge of airworthiness release and return‑to‑service requirements.
- Hands‑on, hangar‑facing credibility with technicians and inspectors.
- Proven track record of owning a QMS in a regulated aviation maintenance setting.
- Comfortable representing the organization before FAA/EASA stakeholders.
- A&P license strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting VIP/business‑aviation environments and working on wide‑body aircraft (Boeing/Airbus).
- Exposure to Safety Management Systems is a plus.
