About the role

The Director of Pharmacy leads the pharmacy department, ensuring safe and effective medication use across the organization. This senior position combines operational oversight, clinical collaboration, and strategic planning to enhance patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all inpatient pharmacy functions, including medication dispensing, inventory management, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop pharmacy staff, providing guidance to improve performance and professional growth.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement pharmaceutical care plans and medication therapy management.
• Establish and maintain quality control measures, monitor medication use, and implement corrective actions to ensure patient safety.
• Develop, review, and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures to meet state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
• Assist in preparing and managing the pharmacy budget, promoting cost‑effective medication use.
• Provide ongoing education and training on medication management and safety practices.
• Lead initiatives to improve pharmacy services, participate in committees, and drive patient‑care outcomes.
• Set strategic direction, monitor expenditures, evaluate new technologies, and develop departmental policies.
