Director of Learning and Development

About the role

The Director of Learning and Development will lead firm‑wide training initiatives for legal and non‑legal staff across all U.S. offices. This senior position blends technical expertise, a passion for teaching, and an understanding of the legal environment to raise the firm’s technological fluency and client service excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and continuously improve new‑hire and ongoing training programs using virtual sessions, video, eLearning, classroom, 1:1 coaching, and presentations.
• Supervise a training team, delegating duties, managing schedules, performance, timesheets, and PTO.
• Develop and maintain the GM Training Curriculum, a master document outlining onboarding and specialty training sequences.
• Create performance‑based courses, work instructions, and training aids to ensure effective technology adoption.
• Manage training request workflows, including hotlines, email channels, and calendars.
• Prepare, proofread, and finalize training outlines and learning materials.
• Set up effective learning environments in classrooms, conference rooms, and virtual settings.
• Customize content for various practice groups, administrative departments, and user roles.
• Contribute to a knowledge base with instructional videos, guides, and documentation for just‑in‑time assistance.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering corporate training programs, preferably in a legal or professional services setting.
• Strong supervisory skills with experience managing a training team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to champion digital proficiency and advocate for user needs.
