Director of Finance & Operations

About the role

Georgetown University seeks a seasoned finance leader to oversee budgetary and operational functions for its Main Campus Administrative Units. Reporting to the Senior Business Manager, the Director will guide a team, manage a $70M+ expense budget, and ensure financial integrity across multiple university departments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead annual budget development, top‑down and detailed forecasting, and monitor actual performance against budget.
• Oversee year‑end close activities and financial reporting for assigned units.
• Directly supervise a Senior Financial Analyst and indirectly oversee an Associate Director of Finance & Ops.
• Review and manage HCM transactions in partnership with the Senior Business Manager.
• Plan, monitor, and report on restricted funds and research expenditures.
• Collaborate with procurement, accounting, and university offices such as Accounts Payable, Payroll Services, and General Accounting.
• Maintain regular communication with Unit Heads, Deans, Vice Provosts, faculty, and the Provost Office Finance Team.
• Participate in the Main Campus Financial Operations Working Group and interact with the Campus CFO.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field preferred.
• Extensive experience in higher‑education finance or large‑scale organizational budgeting.
• Proven ability to lead finance teams and manage multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
