Director of Collections Services

About the role

The Director of Collections Services provides strategic leadership for LSU Libraries’ collections, guiding the development, stewardship, and assessment of physical, digital, and open‑access resources to support teaching, research, and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement a vision for research collections, aligning them with institutional priorities.
• Develop policies and procedures for the lifecycle management of resources in all formats.
• Negotiate pricing and content with publishers and vendors, using data‑driven assessments.
• Manage vendor relationships and coordinate approval plans with internal selectors.
• Represent LSU Libraries in consortia, committees, and national networks.
• Lead assessment initiatives to measure collection value, use, and impact.
• Oversee data analysis and budget strategy for sustainable, user‑centered collection decisions.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in library collection development or a related academic setting.
• Strong collaborative skills with faculty, subject librarians, and campus stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to use data and assessment results to inform strategic decisions.
• Experience managing budgets, vendor contracts, and large‑scale acquisition programs.
