Director of Choral Activities

About the role

The School of Music at East Texas A&M University seeks a full‑time, tenure‑track Director of Choral Activities to lead the University Chorale and Chamber Singers, teach choral courses, and advance the program’s artistic reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide artistic and programmatic leadership for the university’s choral ensembles, including repertoire selection, rehearsal planning, and performance scheduling.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in choral conducting, literature, and related subjects, and mentor students pursuing careers in music education and performance.
• Develop recruitment, outreach, and partnership initiatives with secondary‑school directors, community organizations, and professional bodies.
• Engage in scholarly and creative activities such as conducting performances, recordings, workshops, and research publications.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in choral conducting, ensemble leadership, and curriculum development.
• Evidence of scholarly or creative activity in music (research, publications, recordings, or performances).
• Strong record of recruitment, outreach, and professional service within the choral field.
• Ability to mentor students and collaborate with faculty across the School of Music.
