Director, National Security Business Development

About the role

Overview Energy is seeking a Director of National Security Business Development to lead the company’s entry into defense and intelligence markets. This senior position will shape a five‑year government capture strategy and serve as the primary liaison with DoD commands, Space Systems Command, and the Intelligence Community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and own a 5‑year government capture strategy targeting programs of record or equivalent revenue contracts.
• Identify, cultivate, and close relationships with end users, program offices, and decision‑makers across DoD, services, and IC agencies.
• Navigate the full acquisition lifecycle, including SBIRs, FARs/DFARs, OTAs, AFWERX, SpaceWERX, and programs of record.
• Shape requirements documents and government RFPs in collaboration with engineering and technical leadership.
• Drive proposal development from drafting through final review, making judgment calls on content.
• Build and manage a pipeline of government opportunities, tracking engagement breadth and contract milestones.
• Partner with legal on export control, compliance, agreements, and transactional requirements.
• Represent Overview Energy at government, defense, and space industry forums.
• Develop an external advisory network of senior military advisors to support capture efforts.

Required profile

• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance.
• B.S. in a technical field.
• 10‑20+ years of government capture experience in the defense or national security sector, with proven wins beyond SBIR‑only programs.
• Hands‑on experience with DoD and Intelligence Community acquisition processes.
