Director, Government Relations - Defense

About the role

REGENT is seeking a senior leader to own its federal and state government‑relations strategy for the defense business. The role will shape policy engagement, build high‑level relationships, and translate emerging technology into actionable government opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead defense advocacy by navigating authorization, appropriations, and acquisition priorities and engaging DoD stakeholders, congressional committees and executive‑branch officials.
• Develop and execute a focused government‑relations strategy that maps stakeholders, funding pathways and legislative priorities for REGENT’s defense business.
• Advise senior leadership on where to invest political capital, prepare high‑stakes meetings and align internal teams with external engagement plans.

Required profile

• Established network of contacts on the Hill and within relevant executive‑branch agencies.
• Deep understanding of defense acquisition, NDAA cycles and appropriations processes.
• Proven experience leading state‑level government‑relations initiatives and building relationships with governors’ offices and legislators.
