Director, Global Category Management – Workplace & Lab Operations

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced executive leader to direct its Global Category Management portfolio for Workplace, Infrastructure, and Lab Operations. The role oversees one of the company’s largest indirect‑spend portfolios and partners with Global Workplace & Infrastructure leadership to drive strategy and value.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute multi‑year portfolio strategy aligned with growth, scalability, and risk management objectives.
• Lead a global team of category leaders and managers, building capability, succession plans, and a culture of partnership and innovation.
• Serve as the primary executive liaison for Global Workplace & Infrastructure, guiding annual planning, demand alignment, and governance forums.
• Implement enterprise‑wide category management disciplines, including supplier segmentation, performance management, and strategic sourcing roadmaps.
• Drive AI‑enabled procurement innovations such as market intelligence tools, digital dashboards, and automation to enhance decision quality.

Required profile

• Proven executive experience in global category or indirect spend management, preferably within technology or manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, matrixed teams and develop senior talent across multiple regions.
• Strong track record of delivering measurable value through supplier relationship management and strategic sourcing initiatives.
