Director, Farm Services

About the role

The Director, Farm Services leads the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Farm and Ranch at Prairie View A&M University. This senior position provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and administrative management to support the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources’ mission of research, teaching, extension, and public service.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction and day‑to‑day operational management of all farm and ranch activities.
• Oversee integrated farm systems including crop production, livestock operations, greenhouse facilities, natural resource management, and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborate with faculty, researchers, extension specialists, students, industry partners, and community stakeholders to align farm activities with research, teaching, and outreach goals.
• Develop and manage budgets, grant‑funded projects, and restricted‑fund resources, ensuring financial sustainability.
• Supervise personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a safe, efficient, and innovative work environment.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in agricultural enterprise management or farm operations.
• Strong understanding of land‑grant university missions and extension programming.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
