Director, Colonias Water Project

About the role

DigDeep is seeking a Director to lead its Colonias Water Project, expanding clean water access for underserved communities along the Texas‑Mexico border. The role is based in El Paso, TX, with frequent travel to Dallas and other project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of water and sanitation infrastructure in colonias and similar communities.
• Manage a multidisciplinary team of Project Assistants, Coordinators, and Officers.
• Build and maintain partnerships with state agencies, local governments, housing nonprofits, and community residents.
• Coordinate with the Director of Policies & Coalitions to align project activities with broader advocacy efforts.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and performance metrics, reporting to the Chief Program Officer.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in water resources, public health, engineering, or related fields.
• Proven experience navigating Texas water regulations and political environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi‑stakeholder projects in low‑income settings.
• Willingness to spend 1‑2 weeks per month on‑site in El Paso and travel frequently to Dallas and other locations.
