Director, AI Datacenter Construction

About the role

Bitdeer, a technology company for AI and Bitcoin mining infrastructure, is seeking a Director, AI Datacenter Construction to lead delivery of multiple concurrent AI data center builds across its U.S. portfolio. Reporting to the President of Global Power Land Infrastructure, the role owns construction execution for high-density AI campuses, new builds and retrofits, from site diligence and design through energization, Level 1-5 commissioning and turnover to operations, with accountability for safety, schedule, cost and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead construction of multiple concurrent AI data center builds and build, lead and mentor site construction managers, project managers and discipline leads
• Standardize construction processes, playbooks and reporting across sites
• Lead design reviews of civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical packages, and coordinate substation interconnection, utilities, EPC partners and energization milestones
• Deliver direct-to-chip liquid cooling and high-density power distribution, and coordinate base-building with network, fiber and rack teams
• Plan and execute retrofits and conversions of existing facilities while protecting live operations
• Own site budgets, EAC forecasts, owner's contingency and value engineering; review and approve contractor change orders
• Select and manage general contractors, electrical contractors and consultants, and direct procurement of long-lead equipment and structural steel
• Negotiate tenant requirements (SSOPR), set commissioning frameworks and report status, risks and trade-offs to executive leadership
• Enforce a zero-harm safety culture (OSHA, MOP, LOTO), run QA/QC and commissioning, and deliver structured closeout and compliance oversight (IRA/ITC, prevailing wage, apprenticeship)

Required profile

• 12+ years in data center, mission-critical or large-scale construction, including 5+ years leading owner-side hyperscale or AI data center construction
• Proven delivery of multiple concurrent builds totaling 300MW+ of critical capacity, with capital budgets of $1B+
• Hands-on delivery of AI/ML-ready, high-density or liquid-cooled data centers, including direct-to-chip cooling
• Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, electrical, mechanical or architectural engineering, construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Certifications such as PE, PMP, OSHA 30/40-Hour or LEED; experience with jurisdictions, inspectors and building codes; a plus

Required skills

• Working knowledge of civil, structural, electrical and mechanical systems, MV/HV power distribution, substation interconnection and Level 1-5 commissioning
• EAC forecasting, change-order control, value engineering and OFCI procurement
• Track record of standardizing construction processes and playbooks across regions
