Digital Technologies Technical Specialist

About the role

The Digital Technologies Technical Specialist works directly with Illinois manufacturers to boost operational performance through digital and smart manufacturing technologies. The role combines on‑site consulting, remote analysis, and hands‑on pilot projects to help clients adopt Industry 4.0 solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct consultation on digital transformation, Industrial IoT, automation, robotics, AI, and data analytics.
• Prepare proposals, deliver sales presentations, and support business development to expand digital technology adoption.
• Conduct digital manufacturing readiness assessments, identify gaps, and develop practical roadmaps for technology implementation.
• Lead hands‑on pilot implementations and technology adoption projects, measuring productivity, quality, and efficiency gains.
• Manage third‑party resources such as technology providers and robotics vendors.
• Participate in solution development and process‑improvement teams to strengthen IMEC’s service offerings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, automation engineering, or digital manufacturing technologies.
• Experience consulting with small‑ and mid‑size manufacturers and leading cross‑functional improvement initiatives.
• Legal work authorization in the U.S.; ability to travel frequently across Illinois and lift up to 70 lb.
