Diesel Mechanic – Class 8 Trucks & Trailers

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join its Kansas City, KS Service Center. You will perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a fleet that includes Class 8 trucks, trailers, and occasional forklifts, ensuring reliable operation for our transportation network.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on diesel engines, trailers, lift gates, overhead doors, and dollies.
• Diagnose and execute minor to major repairs on Class 8 trucks and related equipment.
• Perform welding tasks and maintain ancillary systems such as air‑conditioning and electrical components.
• Utilize Cetaris work‑order software to track service activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop environment and adhere to all safety protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with Class 8 trucks.
• Hands‑on experience with Cummins and Detroit diesel engines.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lb and possess personal tools.
• Valid Class A CDL (preferred) and experience driving commercial trucks.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for AC, electrical, and welding tasks.
