Diesel Mechanic – $27.82-$37.60/hr

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to join its Lakeland, FL Service Center. You will perform day‑to‑day maintenance and repairs on a fleet of Class 8 trucks, trailers, and related equipment, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance and minor to major repairs on diesel engines and related systems.
• Service Class 8 trucks, trailers, lift gates, dollies, and occasionally forklifts.
• Perform welding, overhead door, and trailer maintenance as needed.
• Utilize Cetaris software to manage work orders and track repairs.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and adhere to safety protocols.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic, preferably with Class 8 trucks.
• Experience with Cummins and Detroit engines.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and work on a rotating shift schedule (2nd & 3rd shift).
• Own set of tools and a valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Diesel engine repair and preventive maintenance.
• Air‑conditioning and electrical system troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Cummins and Detroit engine families.
• Proficiency with Cetaris work‑order software.
• Trailer maintenance and basic welding.
