Diagnostic Laboratory Technician I

About the role

The Diagnostic Laboratory Technician I supports the Veterinary Medicine Small Animal Medicine & Surgery department by performing routine diagnostic assays and assisting with laboratory operations. This full‑time, essential position works on gastrointestinal function testing for small‑animal patients.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine diagnostics using radioimmunoassay (RIA), enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and automated instrumentation.
• Prepare buffers and reagents required for diagnostic testing.
• Enter patient data and verify diagnostic results in the GI Lab database and spreadsheets.
• Maintain records of supplies and reagents for the laboratory.
• Provide customer service by answering calls and communicating with clients.
• Assist in training student employees in laboratory procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience in scientific research, clinical, operational, or experimental work.
• Ability to use routine laboratory equipment and follow standard operating procedures.
