DevOps Engineer

About the role

Skilled Wound Care is looking for a hands‑on DevOps Engineer to own the deployment, operation, and security of its healthcare software platforms, including an Electronic Health Record system and a Revenue Cycle Management solution. You will be the primary owner of how applications are built, shipped, run, monitored, and secured in production, working closely with development teams to ensure reliability, performance, and HIPAA compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage application servers and cloud infrastructure across dev, staging, and production.
• Provision and maintain AWS resources (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, Route 53, ELB/ALB, CloudFront, ACM) and optionally GCP services.
• Build, harden, and operate Docker images and container deployments.
• Define cloud resources with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and reduce manual configuration.
• Maintain Linux servers – install, patch, harden, and tune for performance and security.
• Coordinate runtime and dependency updates (PHP, Node.js, Python, Nginx/Apache, MySQL).
• Create and sustain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI) with automated testing, promotion, and rollback.
• Develop tooling and documentation to accelerate secure, compliant releases.
• Participate in primary on‑call rotation for production incidents, supported by lead developers.

Required profile

• Proven hands‑on experience in DevOps or site reliability engineering.
• Strong background with AWS services and containerization.
• Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• Solid Linux administration skills.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of security and compliance requirements for PHI (HIPAA).
• Ability to work collaboratively with developers and respond to on‑call incidents.
