DevOps Engineer

About the role

NPR is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join its cross‑disciplinary technical product team. You will build, maintain, and evolve the services and tools that power the NPR Network, delivering reliable, high‑performance experiences to millions of public‑media consumers each day.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure‑as‑code workflows.
• Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux/Unix compute instances across on‑premises and multi‑cloud environments.
• Deploy, scale, and ensure high availability of workloads in cloud platforms.
• Investigate performance bottlenecks and improve application scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate closely with developers and product managers to automate processes and support rapid delivery.

Required profile

• Adaptable, curious systems professional with deep knowledge of cloud‑based administration.
• Strong scripting ability and a passion for automation and orchestration.
• Experience working in a collaborative, mission‑driven environment.
• Union‑represented role under NABET‑CWA DMU collective bargaining agreement.

Required skills

• Linux/Unix system administration.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP or equivalent).
• CI/CD pipeline creation and management.
• Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Automation/orchestration tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
