DevOps Engineer – IT Infrastructure

About the role

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is seeking three IT Infrastructure Engineers to work as DevOps Engineers within its Information Technology Services (ITS) unit. You will support critical applications for New York City’s Human Resources Administration and Department of Homeless Services, ensuring reliable, secure, and automated delivery of services to vulnerable residents.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Maven, and Git.
• Automate application deployments with Ansible playbooks and integrate them into Jenkins jobs.
• Build and manage container environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, Swarm) and create detailed architecture diagrams.
• Provision and configure AWS resources (EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, Route 53, ELB, Auto‑Scaling, CodeDeploy).
• Develop and enforce software release management strategies following agile practices.
• Perform code reviews, monitor system performance, and implement observability solutions including Splunk alerts and threshold monitoring.

Required profile

• Proven experience in system design, implementation, and release management for enterprise applications.
• Strong background in cloud infrastructure (AWS) and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with agile development processes and CI/CD best practices.
• Ability to produce technical documentation and design specifications.
