Device Driver Engineer

About the role

EnCharge AI is looking for a Device Driver Engineer to design and implement high‑performance driver stacks for its AI accelerator hardware. The role works closely with hardware, firmware and AI software teams to deliver low‑latency, high‑bandwidth communication between host systems and the accelerator.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain Linux and Windows PCIe device drivers for AI accelerators.
• Implement low‑level hardware interactions, including DMA, memory management, and interrupt handling.
• Optimize drivers to reduce latency and improve throughput for AI workloads.
• Debug PCIe protocol issues, kernel panics, crashes and performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with hardware, firmware and AI software teams to define driver interfaces and ensure PCIe Gen4/Gen5 compliance.
• Support virtualization technologies such as VFIO, SR‑IOV and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Develop profiling, debugging and monitoring tools for driver performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in device driver development for Linux and/or Windows.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of PCIe (BAR regions, DMA, interrupts, MMIO) and kernel‑mode programming in C/C++.
• Proficiency with Linux kernel and Windows WDDM/WDF driver frameworks.
• Experience with low‑level debugging tools such as gdb, perf, ftrace, dmesg and PCIe analyzers.
• Understanding of multi‑threading, synchronization and memory management in kernel space.
• Familiarity with virtualization (VFIO, SR‑IOV), container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and hypervisor passthrough.
• Knowledge of secure boot, firmware updates and trusted execution environments (TEE).
