Development Director – Fundraising & Engagement

About the role

City Year New Orleans is seeking a Development Director to lead fundraising and external engagement. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will shape and execute strategies that sustain and grow support for our youth‑focused programs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan aligned with site goals.
• Manage and expand a portfolio of corporate, foundation, government, and individual donors.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective supporters.
• Partner with the Executive Director and Board on donor strategy and relationship management.
• Build and maintain a robust fundraising pipeline and track revenue progress.
• Coordinate donor meetings, school visits, stewardship activities, and community engagement events.
• Collaborate with national and regional development teams to maximize funding opportunities.
• Oversee grant submissions and reporting in partnership with grant‑writing support.
• Manage multiple fundraising projects, deadlines, and communications throughout the fiscal year.

Required profile

• Highly organized, self‑directed, and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations.
• Ability to balance relationship‑building, project management, strategy, and hands‑on execution.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
