Detection & Response Security Engineer

About the role

Harvey is building an AI‑driven platform for legal and professional services and needs a Detection & Response Security Engineer to protect its infrastructure. As an early member of the Security Detection and Response team, you will help design, implement, and operate a state‑of‑the‑art threat detection platform while collaborating with engineers across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, model, and prioritize threats against Harvey’s platform using offensive security expertise.
• Develop and maintain detection rules and response playbooks on a ClickHouse‑based analytics stack.
• Conduct regular penetration tests, red‑team exercises, and threat‑hunting activities.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to embed security controls into the software development lifecycle.
• Document findings, provide actionable recommendations, and track remediation progress.

Required profile

• Strong offensive security mindset with hands‑on experience in blue‑team operations.
• Proven ability to translate security research into practical defenses.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving, high‑impact startup environment.
• Excellent communication skills for building relationships across the organization.
