Desktop Technician

About the role

The Desktop Technician provides end‑user IT support within a fast‑paced financial services environment. You will manage hardware and software assets, respond to tickets, and ensure smooth operation of workstations across multiple New York metro locations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the ticket queue, resolve requests, and meet SLA/OLAD targets.
• Perform housekeeping in IT rooms, support hardware decommissioning events and business moves.
• Set up temporary training rooms and event‑specific workstations.
• Handle work‑from‑home hardware requests and manage equipment for new hires and off‑boarding.
• Provide basic troubleshooting, system upgrades, and hardware replacements.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop computers, peripherals, and network connections.

Required profile

• Located within commuting distance of New York City or willing to relocate.
• 3+ years of IT support experience, preferably in a financial services or brokerage firm.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer‑care skills.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in shift patterns (7 a‑4 p or 10 a‑7 p).
• Understanding of ITIL service support and ticket management systems.

Required skills

• Microsoft platforms (Windows OS, Office suite).
• Networking concepts: WAN, LAN, security.
• Computer hardware installation and troubleshooting.
• Ticket management system usage.
• ITIL service support methodology.
• Industry certifications (MCSA, A+, Network+, CCENT, CCT) – a plus.
