Design Engineer – Structural & Payload (Senior)

About the role

Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Design Engineer to lead structural and payload design for antenna systems in El Segundo, CA. The role focuses on developing and validating hardware that supports satellite missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, and document structural and interior payload system requirements.
• Create and modify 3‑D CAD models using tools such as Creo Parametric.
• Validate and verify designs against specifications throughout the product lifecycle.
• Manage supplier development, testing, and production activities.
• Develop new design and analysis processes to improve efficiency and quality.
• Stay current with emerging technologies to inform future product concepts.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Materials Engineering.
• 3+ years (level 3) or 5+ years (level 4) of relevant experience.
• Willingness to relocate to El Segundo at personal expense if not already local.

Required skills

• Creo Parametric and other CAD software.
• Structural engineering, payload engineering, and systems engineering.
• Composite materials expertise (honeycomb sandwich panels, carbon fiber layups, graphite layups).
• Antenna structures and RF component knowledge.
• Satellite hardware experience.
• Manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly process understanding.
