Design Engineer – New Product Development

About the role

Winchester Interconnect is seeking a Design Engineer to support new product designs from concept through production. The role focuses on sustainability, process improvement, and research & development within a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and document new product designs in accordance with Hermetics engineering standards.
• Create detailed drawings, procedures, and bills of materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
• Manage design projects, conduct feasibility research, and coordinate ECOs for existing parts.
• Collaborate with applications engineering, program management, sales, and process engineering to ensure designs meet cost, manufacturability, and customer requirements.
• Utilize ERP systems for workflow sequencing, data management, and production planning.
• Experiment with advanced SolidWorks features to improve departmental efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSME or BSEE).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant design experience.
• Strong organizational, communication, and presentation abilities.
• Analytical thinker who works well in a team environment.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (CAD) design and drafting.
• Experience with ERP/product data management systems.
• Creation of BOMs and technical documentation.
• Understanding of Mil‑Specs, industry standards, and customer specifications.
