Design Engineer

About the role

Parsons is seeking a talented Design Engineer to design, build, and test in‑house ruggedized equipment, create technical documentation, and provide hands‑on customer support, including field deployments for mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop ruggedized/embedded equipment configurations to meet program and customer requirements.
• Assemble equipment in‑house, integrate hardware components, and conduct testing.
• Write and maintain technical documentation such as build guides, deployment write‑ups, and configuration references.
• Troubleshoot hardware and system issues, delivering responsive support to internal teams and end users.
• Collaborate with engineering, program management, and field support to ensure performance, size, weight, and power targets.
• Support equipment testing and validation prior to deployment.
• Travel to field locations to install, configure, and support equipment on‑site.
• Identify and evaluate alternative components or vendors when needed.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment configurations, inventory, and lifecycle status.

Required skills

• Experience with ruggedized computing/server hardware and embedded systems.
• Familiarity with remote management technologies (e.g., Intel AMT, iLO, IPMI).
• Working knowledge of hardware integration, cabling, and system testing best practices.
• Customer‑facing troubleshooting or technical support experience.
• Willingness and ability to travel for field deployments.
• Experience supporting government, defense, or mission‑critical environments.
