Design Engineer

About the role

Target Rock is seeking a Design Engineer to support the development of high‑performance valves for nuclear and industrial applications. The role combines detailed design work, analysis, and project leadership to deliver reliable, compliant products.

Key responsibilities

• Review specifications for compliance with proposed designs.
• Create 3D models and 2D layouts, assembly and detail drawings for new or improved products.
• Perform clearance and stack‑up studies to ensure proper fit and function.
• Conduct tolerance, structural, thermal, and flow analyses to justify design decisions.
• Select appropriate materials and hardware, and prepare design reports.
• Standardize design methods and analysis techniques.
• Lead internally and externally funded design/development programs as Project Manager.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, welding, and quality control to guarantee manufacturability and inspectability.
• Prepare technical proposals and support additional tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of 2D/3D CAD experience.
• Knowledge of valve design and drafting practices.
• Familiarity with ASME B&PV, SDB‑63/VDM‑71, Y14.5, B16.5, B16.34, B18.3, B31.1 codes.
• Understanding of finite element analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• U.S. citizenship with a Government Security Clearance.
