Design Engineer

About the role

Moog’s Space and Defense Group in Orrville, Ohio is seeking a Design Engineer to join the Design Engineering team. The role focuses on the development of hydraulic and electromechanical actuation equipment for military and commercial applications, including US Navy nuclear submarines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead concept design through detailed analysis, prototype manufacture and qualification testing for new hardware.
• Create engineering calculations, design reports, CAD models, part and assembly drawings.
• Develop test procedures and support on‑site and off‑site qualification tests.
• Interface with customers and suppliers during project reviews and resolve technical issues.
• Collaborate with engineers across Moog sites to leverage expertise and ensure design compliance with stringent standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in designing hydraulic, pneumatic or electromechanical systems for defense or industrial applications.
• Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills for interfacing with customers and suppliers.
