Design Engineer

About the role

Rock West Composites is looking for a Design Engineer to create and develop advanced composite structures and products for aerospace, defense, space, and commercial markets. The role works closely with program management, manufacturing engineering, production, and customers to deliver innovative, manufacturable solutions from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Design composite components, assemblies, molds, tooling, and fixtures using SolidWorks.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
• Apply engineering principles to optimize performance, weight, cost, and quality.
• Perform basic structural analyses to assess stresses, stiffness, and deflection.
• Select appropriate composite materials and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews, resolve technical issues, and support engineering changes during production.
• Identify and drive continuous‑improvement opportunities in product quality and manufacturability.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (field not specified).
• Experience designing composite structures or related engineering projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and communicate technical solutions.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD software).
• Creation of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Basic structural analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes.
