Design Engineer II

About the role

As a Design Engineer II at Applied Materials, you will apply your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design custom tooling, and support the handling, assembly, and disassembly of components throughout the product life cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and troubleshoot moderate‑difficulty mechanical problems under general supervision.
• Design or modify mechanical layouts, schematics, and drawings/specifications.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying sources for critical parts.
• Generate engineering test reports and documentation for product releases.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 2–4 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with ultra‑high‑purity semiconductor process chemistry components is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software.
• Knowledge of thermodynamics and sheet‑metal design.
• Material selection and manufacturing methods.
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and flow analysis.
• Design for Excellence principles.
